Peach Aviation is Japan’s leading low-cost carrier, operating domestic routes across Japan and international flights to South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, and Singapore. Like most budget airlines, Peach keeps base fares low by charging separately for extras baggage being the biggest one.

What Is the Baggage Policy for Peach Aviation?

Peach Aviation operates a strict pay-for-what-you-use baggage model. Carry-on baggage is free for all passengers across all fare types. Checked baggage is free only on Standard and Standard Plus fares (for the first piece). Minimum fare passengers pay for every checked bag. Fees differ by route zone, fare type, and where you purchase online, via the Contact Center, or at the airport counter.

What Are Peach Airlines’ Carry-On Size and Weight Rules?

Peach Aviation allows each passenger 2 carry-on items one main bag plus one personal item with a combined weight of no more than 7 kg and a combined size where the sum of three dimensions (length + width + height) does not exceed 115 cm per item. This applies to all routes, domestic and international.

A few things worth noting that competitors frequently overlook:

  • The 115 cm limit includes handles, wheels, and outer pockets not just the bag body.
  • Duty-free items purchased after the security checkpoint count toward your carry-on allowance.
  • Airport staff may measure or weigh your carry-on at any point. Bags that don’t fit in the overhead compartment must be checked in at airport counter rates.
  • Power banks are subject to strict separate rules (see FAQ section).

Is Peach Airlines Strict on Baggage?

Yes. Peach Aviation enforces its carry-on rules actively. Staff may check bag dimensions and weight by sight or with measuring tools at any stage before boarding. Passengers who refuse to comply with carry-on restrictions may be denied boarding. If your carry-on exceeds limits and cannot be stored properly, you will be required to check it in at airport counter rates which are notably higher than online rates.

Practical tip: Always add checked baggage during online booking. The price difference between booking online versus at the airport counter can be JPY 1,000–1,400 per bag on domestic routes alone.

What Are Peach Airlines’ Checked Baggage Rules?

Peach Aviation’s checked baggage allowance covers up to 5 bags per person, with a maximum weight of 20 kg per piece and total dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 203 cm. The total weight across all checked bags cannot exceed 100 kg per person.

Peach also offers a Priority Baggage Option (JPY 600 online / JPY 900 via Contact Center or airport), which means your checked bag is returned first at the destination carousel. Note that oversized bags are not eligible for this option.

Important: Peach operates point-to-point baggage only. If you’ve made two separate bookings on the same day, you must collect your baggage at the first arrival point and re-check it for your next flight. Baggage is not automatically transferred between separate reservations.

What Is Oversized Baggage on Peach Airlines?

Oversized baggage at Peach Aviation refers to checked items where the sum of three dimensions (L+W+H) is 204 cm or more. This replaces the old Sports Equipment option, which Peach discontinued on December 3, 2024.

Items like golf bags, surfboards, bicycles, skis, and snowboards now fall under the Oversized Baggage Option, subject to maximum per-side limits:

  • Max height: 80 cm
  • Max width: 80 cm
  • Max depth: 230 cm

Baggage exceeding any of these per-side maximums cannot be checked in at all. The oversized option fee is JPY 1,900 online (domestic) or JPY 3,000 via contact center/airport. For international flights, fees vary by zone.

What Are Peach Aviation’s Domestic vs. International Baggage Allowance Differences?

The main difference is not the checked baggage weight or dimensions those stay the same but the liquid rules and, to a lesser extent, route-based fee tiers.

Carry-on liquids:

  • Domestic flights: Beverages and liquids are permitted freely. Alcoholic beverages between 24% and 70% ABV are allowed up to 5 liters per person. Toiletries and non-radioactive medications are allowed up to 2 liters per person, with individual containers no larger than 0.5 liters.
  • International flights: Standard 100 ml (3.4 oz) container rule applies. All liquids must fit in a single clear plastic zip-top bag no larger than 20 cm × 20 cm (without the bottom gusset). Only one bag per person is permitted.

Can I Bring Water on Peach Airlines?

On domestic flights, yes Peach allows passengers to bring beverages, including water, on board without restriction. On international flights, water and other liquids in containers larger than 100 ml are prohibited before clearing security. Duty-free liquids purchased after the security checkpoint may be brought on board on international flights, provided there is no connecting flight that would require re-screening.

Tips for a Smooth Baggage Experience with Peach Aviation

  • Book baggage online: Airport counter rates are JPY 1,000–1,400 more per bag on domestic routes, and even higher on international routes.
  • Weigh before you leave: Peach charges separately for heavy baggage (over 20 kg), on top of your regular checked bag fee.
  • Measure your carry-on correctly: Include handles, wheels, and pockets. The 115 cm total dimension limit is firm.
  • Check your fare type: Standard and Standard Plus fares include one free checked bag. Minimum fares do not.
  • Plan for separate bookings: If you’ve made two separate Peach bookings on the same day, budget time to collect and re-check your baggage between flights.
  • Know the sports equipment rule change: As of December 3, 2024, there is no longer a dedicated sports equipment check-in option. Use the Oversized Baggage Option for golf bags, skis, and similar items.
